ROUTE - ITINERARY:

FIRST DAY | KM 82 - WAYLLABAMBA

We will start your trip by picking you up at your hotel at 06:00 AM to drive from Cusco to Ollantaytambo and then to Km. 82. Here we will have to register to enter the Inca Trail and we will meet all the staff members who will do the trek with us. From km 82, we will hike gently for 2 hours until we reach our lunch spot known as Miskay. After lunch, we will take a short rest and then we will continue our adventure for 4 more hours until we reach Huayllabamba. On the way, we will be able to see the archaeological site of Patallacta. Finally, in Huayllabamba, we will have dinner prepared for us and then we will have a restful rest in the tents of our camp.

SECOND DAY - WAYLLABAMBA | PACAYMAYO

During the morning, we will drink coca tea to help us acclimatize more to the altitude. Soon after, we will have a hearty breakfast prepared by our trail chef. With this energy, we will begin the adventure of our second day! We will walk around 5 hours to reach the top of the mountain called Warmihuañusca. There, we will have an incredible view of the Andes! After enjoying these panoramic views and resting, we will go down for about 1 hour until we reach our lunch spot. After lunch, we will continue walking until we reach Pacaymayo, where we will spend the rest of the afternoon resting and relaxing before going back to sleep in our tents.

THIRD DAY - PACAYMAYO | WIÑAYWAYNA

After having a good coca tea and having breakfast, we will continue walking on the Inca Trail. We start in Pacaymayo and pass through the archaeological site of Sayaqmarca. After visiting the beautiful Inca structures here, we will stop for lunch. After lunch, we will continue walking until we reach Wiñaywayna (Always Young) where we will set up our tents and camp for dinner and sleep.

FOURTH DAY - EL DÍA MÁS IMPORTANTE - MACHU PICCHU!

Today’s Highlights: Your excitement for our Machu Picchu encounter will increase as you make your way early in the morning through the forest to reach the Puerta del Sol which overlooks the entire grandiose site! You will have plenty of time to explore this magnificent wonder of the world while enjoying the beautiful sunrise from this once-in-a-lifetime vantage point. Your group will learn about this mystical place on a two-hour guided tour of the ruins. Afterwards, you can choose to climb Huayna Picchu or Machupicchu Mountain (if you have reserved tickets) or hike to the Inca Bridge (without additional tickets).

Today we reach the long-awaited end of our trek, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Machu Picchu! We will get up early after a refreshing night to enjoy the serenity in the soft morning light as we walk 2 hours from Wiñay Wayna to Puerta del Sol or «Inti Punku». Here, the Inca Trail officially ends. From this place, we will be able to admire the great beauty of the Inca Machu Picchu citadel! The entrance control point to Machu Picchu is open from 06:00 AM to 17:00 PM. We will walk downhill for 1 hour and enter the hidden royal citadel of the Incas. Here we will have a 2-hour guided tour through this incredible ancient city to visit temples, terraces, palaces, priests’ houses, the sundial, the industrial sector and the cultivated fields. Be amazed by the engineering ingenuity of the Incas, which was far ahead of its time and is still part of a mystery today! Having no modern tools, not even steel and iron to work with, the people who built this city were great at organizing this community in a sustainable and beautiful way on the side of a mountain, even carrying water in canals through its streets so that people can use. When a Peruvian guide showed Hiram Bingham this site, it was almost unrecognizable, covered in thick vegetation and in poor condition. Since then it has been cleaned and restored and is now protected and treasured by the world at large. After this tour, you can climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (make sure you book early to get tickets for these!). Each mountain takes approximately 3 hours to go up and down. Another lower-impact option for which you don’t need an additional ticket is to walk to Puerta del Sol, the main entrance from the Inca Trail (this takes about 2-2.5 hours round-trip). Another option is to walk to see the Inca Bridge. You will be able to stay and enjoy this magical city for as long as you need before taking the bus to the city of Aguas Calientes. Here, if you have left time before the train, you can have lunch, visit the hot springs and walk through the city and the craft market. At 4:22 p.m. (subject to availability), we will take the train to Ollantaytambo. A private bus will pick up our group and drop you off at your hotel in Cusco.
